Wifi dropping out constantly, but still have broadband connection via ethernet

Hi,

Our wifi is constantly dropping out, sometimes for extended periods, and even when the device is right next to the router. But the broadband connection is stable and has good speeds through the ethernet connection to my laptop.

Have tried restarting the router, and this has been happening for several weeks now.

Any ideas what could be causing this and what could be a potential fix?

Cheers!

@bet77  is it one device or several devices that are experiencing this ?

Hey ChrisB,

It's several devices. Our mobiles, the other laptops in the house, the Sonos speakers. Very rarely the tv though.

Hi @bet77.

Have you completed a speed test to see what sort of speeds you're getting on the WiFi?

Is there anything blocking the router?

Have you tried changin channels manually?

When connected to the wifi the speed is the same as when connected via ethernet.

There's nothing in front of the router.

It's odd, it's ok again now, but nothing obvious has changed since I posted my query. It'll be rubbish again at some random point in the future no doubt...

Hi pip11,

How do I go about changing channels manually, and what does that do?!
