I have just got a new Smart hub, can I just add 1 disc and place it somewhere else in the house- or does the 1st disc need to stay connected by an Ethernet cable, and then get a second disc?
Thanks

You only need to use ethernet to set up the disc, you can then move it anywhere.

Thanks,
I have a BT WiFi disc, which I have been told needs to stay connected by Ethernet, although not shown in the setup video. I was told it is the same as EE, but this would seem to be not true. Any ideas??

Hi @Exematt
Thanks for coming to the community.
If you are using a BT WiFi disc, you can find information in the How do I set up Complete Wi-Fi? Help page.
Thanks.
Leanne.

Thanks, I followed this, but there is no mention that the 1st disc needs to be left connected by the Ethernet cable, and any extra discs can then be connected wirelessly.
I have an EE hub, and BT disc, is this the only way?
If I bought an EE disc is still the case, or is the 1st disc wireless? I only want 1 disc to cover the kitchen area.

Hi @Exematt
The BT Help page advises, follow the steps below to connect using an ethernet cable. There's one in your Hub box.
There is also some information in the BT Whole Home Wi-Fi FAQs - Set-up and installation guide.
Thanks.

I have 1 disc, when I unplug the cable, the light stays solid red, does not change to blue. Do I need to keep the disc connected by Ethernet?
I have read the instruction a hundred times and attempted set up over 20 times.
Please answer the question!! I was told EE and BT discs are the same.

Hi @Exematt
As @pip11 has advised, this should only be needed during set up as far as I am aware.
I have found some advice on the BT Community, have you tried restarting the router?
If the advice does not help you get set up, I would advise contacting BT for further support.
Thanks.
Leanne.

I have restarted the router and the disc.
Some people on the BT forum suggest the 1st disc needs to stay connected. I have an EE hub, so should be able to disconnect the cable- is that right?
Do I need an EE disc? Surely the disc is the same, just different branding??
