Starting Data Pack £1 early (usual texts to 150 do not work)

pelusa1

I've been trying to start my pack early since yesterday.

Usually, this would be an easy process involving texting to 150 "DP1", after 150 replies, texting back "YES", and then, after the second reply, answering "NOW".

It all works until I reply "YES". The text back saying I must use text them back (saying Now), never arrives.

Simply sending a text that says "NOW" triggers a message back saying you have a pack but if you want one to start early buy one and then text NOW...

I've tried several times and always the same happens. I think my pack is an old one (doesn't seem listed anywhere) as I've had it for years. So I wonder if this means EE is trying to push me towards another (more expensive) deal?

As I've had it so long, I have several boosts, which I don't want to lose, of course.

Thanks in advance!!

Had you fully exhausted your previous pack? In that case you wouldn't text NOW as it would renew immediately you bought it.

What does texting AL to 150 report exactly?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

Hi,

Thanks! I generally can start the packs early through that set of steps, even if there's minutes or tests remaining (I usually run out of data first).

Texting AL brings back a text saying I have plenty of money on the balance, plus texts and minutes left "remaining on your £1 Data Pack".

I want to start the pack early, but as I mentioned, after sending "DP1" I get a message that says:

"To buy a new £1 Data pack reply YES. It will start when your current pack expires or to star it early text NOW to 150 after you've bought it"

After sending YES I get nothing back.

What else can I do?

Thanks!

Hi @pelusa1

Welcome to the community.

Are you able to add the pack through your My EE account?

Yes, That's what I'd expect when you had stuff remaining for that sequence to work, But I'm asking the reverse whether the last pack could have exhausted everything?

In which case after your YES text there is no need for !50 to come back to tell you to text NOW as it would start now anyway by reason of it being expired by exhaustion, if you see what I mean.

So again, What does texting AL to 150 report exactly now

Hi,

No, that's not the case. My current pack still has over 50 minutes and texts, just no data. And I have plenty of £ credit.

As mentioned, this has happened to me before (finishing data before the pack runs out) and I follow those steps to start the pack early, and it works after the cycle of text messages to 150, finishing with the "NOW". But this time, I never get that final text from 150.

Cheers!

Hi!

Thanks for your message.

Through my account I only get given options for more expensive packs, but not my £1 data pack.

Thanks!

It may be worth speaking to our Mobile Care team, @pelusa.

They'll do their best to help.

I have the same problem (a year later!) Did you ever find a solution to that? They don't publicize DP1 anywhere, but I've had it for quite a long time too - I think I'm up to about 1.2 Gb data now. But if I'm away from WiFi I often run out of data, and as you say, there is no response to typing YES. I hate phoning Support, but maybe I'm going to have to!

Morning @africorn

Thanks for coming to the community.

Have you text NOW to 150?

Do you have the option to start the pack in your My EE account?

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.
