I have just upgraded my broadband and installed an EE smart router. I am now unable to set up My smart life sockets which operate with the Alexa system. I probably need to change the encryption method and or authentication codes. EE cannot help as they are not allowed to offer this information. Can anyone please help?

@mikejwood : Why can't you use your smart sockets with the EE Smart Router? What's stopping you & why do you think it's to do with encryption?
What router did you have before? What BB package have you moved to?

The router I had before was the EE Hub But the spread was poor and the system kept dropping out. My smart lifer sockets we’re operating fine with Alexa. EE said to upgrade to the Smart Router which has improved my coverage but I am unable to reprogram the smart life sockets as they do not see the router. The fault FAQ’s suggests that the router should be encryption WPA2-PSK with authentication AES. I contacted EE and they are not able to assist in deterring whether the router is as above and cannot help in changing the router settings. They suggested going through the community forum.

Have you tried changing it in advanced wireless settings in the hub GUI?

Login to your EE SH at http://192.168.1.254 with the admin password on the bottom of the slider label on the back of the router. Then go to the Advanced > Wireless Settings.

If you switched from an EE Smart Hub to an EE Smart Router the WiFi encryption should be the same.
Try Wireless Mode 2. Do the smart sockets work now?
