Replacement Sim

My son lost his phone last week and I went into a store for a replacement Sim card. The phone (Sim) is still not accepting calls or texts, but he can make outgoing calls. Does the sim need time to activate - or do I need to do something to get this to work?

If your son can make outgoing calls, that means his phone is connecting to the EE network so something else is causing this.
Can he send text messages? What happens when someone else calls your son? Does the call reach his voicemail, or is something else happening?
Has your son restarted his phone recently?

I restarted it last night and it stayed the same.
Not sure about texts - I'll check.
Message when you ring the message says 'Sorry calls are not being connected to this number.'

Is this a PAYG phone or pay-monthly?
If it's PAYG, when was the last time it was used for a chargeable call or text?

Hi
It's a pay monthly contract. It was in an iphone so am using a spare phone (I have used the same phone before with no problems).
Texts aren't sending either - juist failed to send message

Are you able to try the SIM card in another phone at all to see if he can receive calls and texts, and send texts?
What phone is he using?

Hi.
I will try this tonight (had to give up and go to work😀) .
Its just a older Samsung, so android. I have used his old Sim and mine in this phone so I know it accepts them. I will try the sim in my phone tonight and come back

Hi again
Tried sim in my EE phone (samsung) and the replacement sim still isn't working in it. Can call out but no text. Also can't receive calls. I've checked for blocked numbers etc- nothing
