Hi all,
My Samsung phone was snatched out of my hand by some bikers on my way home the other week. I have since made a claim with my insurance and received a new phone, but I still need to sort out a replacement for my SIM card.
My problem is that I live alone in London and now obviously don't have a telephone number to call EE customer services from to enquire about getting a new SIM. On top of that, what with Covid-19 restrictions and London being in a Tier 4 zone, I can't go to the shops to ask for a new one either. I don't know my neighbours very well, and even if I felt like sitting through a 20-minute hold as I am waiting on a representative to answer the call, I doubt any of my neighbours would be thrilled at the idea of me borrowing their phone for such a long time (given they do not know me), especially with the fear of a new variant of the virus going around (in fact, I am not LEGALLY allowed to enter the premises of my neighbours anyway as per the new laws).
I can't seem to find any working live chat on the EE 'contact us' page, and can't find any alternative to calling 150 to reach EE about a new SIM. Surely there should be another way to get in touch? I mean, phones are stolen every day, aren't they? So how would someone like me call 150 if they don't have a number to call from?
Does anyone have any advice or information which could help me resolve my issue?
TL;DR: my phone was stolen and I cannot call 150 to ask customer services to send me a new SIM. Shops are closed due to Covid-19 and I have no other way to reach customer services via telephone.

Hi @jmnorcross
Welcome to the community. I'm so sorry to hear about your phone.
Is it on contract or pay as you go?

Hi Chris,
I am still paying for a contract.
FYI I tried to order a new SIM online but couldn't because first I need to update my postal address which I can't do; the EE portal only gives the option to send out a one-time PIN to your current number (which I can't access, sadly).
Any advice?
Thanks,
Joel

Have you tried our live chat service, @jmnorcross?
You should be able to use the live chat link on our get in touch help page.

You say you have a replacement phone already. Can you download Skype and call EE on 0800 079 8586? You can call 0800 numbers from Skype for free without adding credit.

Hi,
The Live Chat option was blank every time I visited the page so I couldn't activate it from my laptop browser.
For some reason after following your link on the mobile browser it was available and I've just managed to sort it all out. Expecting new SIM card by the end of the week!
Thanks for your help.
Best,
Joel

Hi,
Did not know that, will keep it in mind for the future. All sorted now though, but thank you for your suggestion!
Best,
Joel
