I’ve tried this and all I keep getting is “We're unable to unlock a device with this type of account.” Yet phone accepts a BT sim or an EE one, but not a 3. So is it locked or not?

Hi @Jayemm1
Thanks for coming to the community.
Where did you purchase the device?
Does the 3 SIM card work in any other phone?
Do you have a pay as you go or pay monthly account?
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.

Hi, purchased direct from EE in December with a £10 flexi ? voucher which i never renewed and went onto PAYG. 3 sim works in my other phone. And a BT sim works in the phone though the 3 one wont.
Phone has two IMEI numbers.Just did online chat and was told had to wait till 6 months were up and/or pay £8.99 to unlock the second one.
thanks

Hi @Jayemm1
Thanks for coming back to me.
Did you purchase the phone on pay as you go? did you make a payment for the phone?
Thanks.
Leanne.

I bought phone outright with a £10 talk pack intending to purchase them once a month if needed, but wasn’t used so didn’t renew pack or put any more money on.

Hi @Jayemm1
Thanks for coming back to the community.
You can unlock your pay as you go or Flex plan device bought direct from EE as soon as you get it.
You can find details on unlocking you pay as you go phone in our How to unlock an EE pay as you go phone or device, post.
Thanks.
Leanne.

Yes that is what I thought but I get the “unable to unlock device with this type of account” every time I try and with which ever of the two IMEI numbers I use. Chat person said I would get an unlock code in 8-10 days for one of the IMEI and have to pay £8.99 for the other!!

Thanks @Jayemm1
You should only need one unlocking code for the phone.
Once you have the code, both SIM slots should be unlocked for you.
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.
