North Sea off shore

I’m off shore working in the North Sea. Notice I am picking up 4G. Will I be charged extra for using my data. I understand calls and normal txt will cost but will surfing the net, Netflix, WhatsApp etc cost me extra?

Hello, I’m also not being cable to connect now after it working fine a couple days ago. Maybe they have caught on to our ways ^^

I am the same, have tried restarting phone and tablet. Same issue as other guys, can select Tampnet network from the setting on my iPhone but get no bars of signal.

I already tried to restart my phone and connect later manually, but still have same problem and the error message is:

Network registration faild.

I get the error message "The operators network you chose cannot be found"

Strange, it seems no one has been able to connect since Friday - the same day that Tampnet says EE were changing their pricing policy. Hopefully they won't decide to start charging as a marine network. The implication from Tampnet is that data should be coming out of our normal plans?

Having same problem. I have tried restarting the phone and can not connect to Tampnet network.

Any news on the subject?

Hi I have same problem I apoken with gomiy who is work in tampnet

I am on location where antena 4g is mounted at platform, but i cant connect to tampnet . My Phone see network but problem  is with registration to them. Another qestion i was wondering if i have to unlock my Phone if the Phone is from other country than UK ? I have but just sim for 1pound and top up for 30 pound.  Where is a problem? I tried on both Phone and result is negative. Help

Unfortunately it seems that there is no access to Tampnet for anyone at the moment via EE. The word from Tampnet is that EE is in the process of changing their tariffs for the North Sea. This would imply that we'll no longer be able to access the network using our existing allowances. At the moment you can apparently access using an e-sim from GlobalSky, but they charge $49 for 1GB over 30 days. I can't see anyone paying those rates. I hope EE isn't planning on charging something comparable. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Three and Vodafone are also now in the testing phase and should be operational in the next month or two.

Hi there, Was just wondering if there has been any update regarding using the 4g signal via tampnet ??

As mentiond above i had 4g signal and was using my data allowance, come friday it just stopped. I dont mind paying an add on fee to be aloud to use this when i am working away, But lets hope the dont try charge an arm and a leg.

Hi @wilskin93,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

After further investigation, we've found EE customers who connected to Tampnet were incorrectly able to use their inclusive data allowances.

I've had confirmation from our roaming team that connections to the Tampnet network will now be charged at the standard Maritime rates.

We're sorry for any confusion this has caused.

Thanks

James
