Hi @Lukew2 ,
If you are able to obtain a credit card from a reputable bank and pay off the amount at the end of each month by Direct Debit, that is usually the most convenient way to prove you are creditworthy and improve your credit history and credit score.
You may find it useful to check out services such as clearscore.com to keep you on track. Ignore the offers they give you.
Below are some options if a credit check would not be suitable at the present time. Good luck!

Oh but I was trying to get a smart sim only contact £28 on EE with apple music and bt sports but only have a debit card and then the EE website said that the sign up was done and then had an email from EE saying the credit check failed but it was only a smart sim only £28 plan I ordered so I thought it will go through but it did it sadly and I can't work out why.

It's still a lengthy contract. Naturally EE want some assurance that you will continue to pay over the whole term.
If you can't obtain credit try instead for a PAYG SIM. You can get up to 100GB for £30 pm,

Yeah but when I ordered a sky sim contract I have no problem even though I had no credit score then. But when I ordered a smart sim only contact I did set a direct debit when I was setting up the smart sim only but it still failed when I thought it would go through even though as I just said there was a direct debit set in the smart sim only set up.

That's Sky & this is EE!

Yeah I know. But I thought if the direct debit was set up on the same time of the smart sim only contact on EE was set up it would thore with the smart sim only contact but sadly it didn't.

What does it matter if a DD is set up but never called upon? It's no proof of your credit worthiness.
What do you mean by a "smart SIM contract" that you keep repeating? Isn't it just another EE SIM-only contract?
You're not giving us all the facts. What are the contract terms of all these contracts?

I smart plan on sim only. I thought credit check was there if your not going to pay your credit on it then it will fail but if the EE network sees that you have a direct debit set up then the credit check will go through.

@Lukew2 You write, you have set up a direct debit and that should suffice, no, there needs to be proof of a good credit score, and companies will check to see how your score is. You need to have used either a credit card or bank card for sometime to prove that you have a good score, different companies do differ as to how they view the score, and need to make sure you are able to meet the monthly payments.
As has already been suggested, you can check your credit score, there are various companies, who may also give different scores.
