I am being told that my 4GEE router is not secure

When I try to connect to my 4GEE router (and I do not get the No Internet message) I get a message to say it cannot connect because the WiFi network uses an older security standard that is not safe. It does this for both 5Ghz and 2.4GHz and asks me to switch to a different network. Is this correct and is EE unsafe to use?

Hi there @m0rris0n1

Thanks for coming to the community.

What device are you using to connect to the WiFi?

Are you using a VPN?

Also, has this worked previously for you?

Speak soon 🙂

Leanne.

I am using my laptop with no vpn. This only started coming up a few days ago and I suspect it is a message from Norton Safe Web (that I have using as my virus protection for several years). I say this as I do not get the same message on my phone. I also had no access to the 5Mhz network for about a week before this as it said it could not find the network.

Make sure that the WiFi Security level og the router is WPA2 (preferred) or WPA, not WEP.
