Fttp on fibre 36

I've recently upgraded to fibre 36 from standard and my Internet drops on the regular and kicks everybody off the network. Part of the deal is we get FTTP, if fibre runs thru the street then to our property on the standard line instead of of a new fibre line would that cause a problem with the Internet?

Thanks in advance

@XRaySpeX  a different test showing im in a bt 6 hub on EE broadband isp

Hi @Vicgurt ,

The good news is that the logs you have posted confirm what you have reported, i.e. that the internet connection frequently drops for considerable periods of time (in the absence of that proof, I would have recommended ping tests to rule out a DNS issue). If those logs are for the EE Smart Hub, I feel it is sufficient evidence to get as much help from EE as needed to fix and the engineer is likely to have noted those lines.

I feel we need to cover off some sanity check questions first as otherwise we are in a garbage-in, garbage-out situation if we assume wrongly.

Please may I double check that you are connecting either the EE Smart Hub or BT Hub 6 to a BT master socket https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/getting-set-up/home-networks/a-wired-home-network/what-type-of-mas... and that in your house you do not have an OpenReach ONT (for FTTP) https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/whats-an-openreach-modem-ont ? I ask this because a ping of 13 ms is excellent.

Please may I double check whether you only have one of the EE Smart Hub or BT Hub 6 powered up and cabled at any one time, or whether you have been testing both powered on simultaneously?

Please may you confirm that with the BT Hub 6 cabled to the master socket, and the EE Smart Hub boxed and switched off that you successfully connect to EE's broadband service and see internet access? This would be really interesting to hear as it has already been reported by another user to be the case for FTTP with an OpenReach ONT.

Do you see frequent internet connection drops for both the EE Smart Hub and the BT Hub 6 or only for one of these and not the other?

Was the BT Hub 6 brought into play subsequent to the connection drops being seen with the EE Smart Hub? Was this supplied by yourself or a friend, or provided by the visiting engineer?

What was plugged into LAN port 1 at the time of the above log? It suggests perhaps both routers were on and cabled together? "11:19:23 25 Aug. Detect and configure Ethernet port1 as WAN"

Take the last ten lines of each log, or else the ten most interesting lines near the end of the logs. If you're not afraid of copying and pasting, you can post more. More information is not worse than less information. EE Smart Hub logs would be of more interest, otherwise WAN and PPP would be of particular interest but I don't recommend omitting any logs.

@Vicgurt  you are still confusing things, your pic on post 48 shows your BT hub using BT username, so it is not connected to EE broadband.

That may be the source of your issues, if you still have BT and EE broadband on your line.

Your other pics are of no relevance.

@mikeliuk : What's all this with ONT's & FTTP? We've already seen there is no FTTP there & both routers show a FTTC connection. Your whole post is a waste of space. You have no technical knowledge in this area. It is you that is pushing the garbage-in to this thread.

With EE getting more closely linked to BT these days, it is conceivable that the EE Authentication Server now permits connection from the user-less BB Username bthomehub@btbroadband.com & lets it on the Net w/out needing any authentication. Hence the absence of any PPP Authentication log events that you normally get with EE routers.

Maybe the PPP log you once hinted at might throw some light on this.

Because the router is set to that user name, I'm with EE so beats me why it's set on a bt user name. My net is playing right up that's all I know

All I know is EE broadband is playing up for me and when I use the BT hub it seems to last a bit longer before the Internet disappears
