I’ve place an order for Full Fibre 900 Max. I’m curious about the install and what equipment (Router etc..) you get.

A fibre cable is laid to the outside of your property & a box attached to the outside wall, if it's not already there. Then a small hole is drilled thro' the wall to take a short fibre cable to an ONT FTTP modem on the inside wall. EE will supply you with a router to connect to the ONT over Ethernet.

Have a read of the "How does FTTP broadband work?" section of Fibre Broadband (FTTC / FTTH) Guide

Thanks for the info but I was hoping for specifics on the type router supplied. To see the if it’s possible/worth replacing the EE device with a different model.

It'll probably be the white EE Smart Router but it doesn't really matter. Practicably any router will do as their modem is not used.

Hi @Wez19 did you manage to change the EE router? I want one which will allow me to put it in Modem Mode and use my deco m5.

@XRaySpeX @Wez19 @ Any ideas please?

Thanks.

@bachoo786 : No EE router can be put into modem-only mode but you don't need a modem with FTTP as the modem required is already in the installed ONT. So why are you asking?

Practically you could connect your Mesh straight to the ONT & cut out the supplied router altogether.

Hi @XRaySpeX thanks for your reply.

I tried to cut the ee router all together it's the SMART Router DX and use the Deco M5 but the Deco shows red light throughout and doesn't work.

Any other suggestions on replacing the EE router?

Thanks.

Have you entered your BB Username & pwd somewhere in in the Deco's interface, probably in the WAN section?
