Hi everyone, I have a 4g router supplying my home broadband. Now the speed isn’t slow (average 40mb) but I’ve noticed my iPhone 12 shows a quicker speed on using Speedtest.
I noticed that you can put antennas on the router, just wondering if you think it would make a difference? On my iPhone I’m probably getting nearer to 80mb and the router is showing signal strength of 2 bars out of 3.
ive noticed there’s antennas on Amazon uk and I’m wondering can I use these and will they be any good? Or do I have to contact EE?

@Michaelthompson If you put your phone in the same location ( not on your hand ) as your router and do a speed test what are the results.

Improving your Signal Strength on a LTE Router is never a bad thing and is sometimes key to it working well and working poorly in Fringe Coverage areas, having said that there are never any guarantees when it comes Radio Waves, but worse case you should see better consistency and quality of signal Strength.
EE use a UK Company Panarama Antennas for the external Router Antennas, who are a good make, others are Poynting and Huawei, also good, but try and stay away from the cheap China Stuff from the Bay and Amazon, like most things you get what you pay for.
Try and mount the antenna as high as possible with a good 360 degree view and away from other objects, and keep the Cable run length as short as possible to the Router.

@Michaelthompson What speed should your BB be ? And what phone tariff do you have ? The speeds between your BB and phone tariff might not be the same to start with. Can you fit your phone sim in your router to test and vice versa with your BB sim ?

I’m just thinking about an internal antenna, any links to good ones?

Well it estimated 31mb when I looked before I moved in. I’ve just got an unlimited 5G package on my iPhone, but there’s no 5G in this area yet.
that’s a great idea putting my phone sim into the router, I have the white one so I’m not sure if it has a built in sim or a one you put in I can’t remember now 😂

Personally I wouldn't bother with it internal antenna for one reason your go from 4x4 mimo to 2x2 mimo so your speeds will drop in half, unless you place the Antenna high up on the window but then you might as well just put the Router in the same place.
Is your Router and plan 5G ?

Yeah I know what you mean thanks! I just don’t have much experience with antennas so thought I’d ask

Also I have 5g on my iPhone but 4g on the bb because 5G isn’t in the area yet
