Disgusting Price Increase!

I've just had the email that you are now cashing in on the cost of living crisis by smashing a massive 14.4 % increase on my bill.

Its absolutely disgusting, at a time when people are struggling to eat and heat their homes you decide to hit us with that ridiculous increase, not just a few % you up it by 14.4%

Its sick and I'll never be using EE again when this contract ends, I'll also be going out of my way to warn other people from using you, there's absolutely no justification in a hike like that, its pure greed and you should be ashamed.

You're a disgrace!

I believe 02 and virgin media are charging nearly 18% increase on their bills.

Sky are 0% on contracts and 9% for non contracts. The likes of O2 probably are doing the same as EE but you’ll see the more competitive companies win the custom when people who are locked in and being ‘exploited’ are released.

@MarkJ9  Sky don’t have a network to operate they are a MVNO network.  And they are by putting 9% on out of contract customers trying to get them to sign up to a new contract.

They don't really. It's stated in the terms and conditions. https://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/Termsandconditions/network-terms-tcs/PAYM-Network-Terms-v7-b4-F...

Freely available online to any customer or potential joiner. Customers might as well just get on with it. It's not nice but it's pretty straight forward. The network is legally covered and all customers will have to pay it. It's the same as all the other major mobile networks. Ultimately people will vote for their feet. But I'd be pretty certain people will still join EE, Vodafone etc and they won't lose that many customers. I am on sim only with a small network with no price increase but if you want the top end iphone on the network I am on, you can't get it. Most people can't afford to buy an iphone 14 or Samsung S22 outright so go on contract. Customers are acting like it's a bolt of the blue. EE always stated they'd charge a price increase based on the CPI rate of inflation plus 3.9%. The rate of inflation published in January by the ONS was 10.5 so the increase is 14.4%.  it's 100 legally watertight. People might question the ethical aspect of mid contract price increases but that is ultimately for ofcom to adjudicate on in the long term as the regulator but basically any customer who asks for a manager in order to complain about the price increase, will simply get deadlocked and be asked to go to the regulator, the ombudsman. The regulator will say it's stated in the terms and conditions, nothing we can do about it. I've done it myself with different suppliers. EE have not moved the goalposts so it's not unfair. If the CPI rate of inflation was 2% which is actually the government target (probably unrealistic though), the price increase would be much more palatable for customers at 5.9%. Interestingly, anyone that starts their contract whether it be an upgrade or additional line in March, will not be affected this year in April so perhaps rather than complain might be worth thinking more cleverly about how to work around it or move to another network that doesn't implement price increases which is hardly nobody.

Just had the 15% price rise text, which will push my out of contract SIM card to just under £30pm. Quick look on Uswitch shows how poor value and uncompetitive EE has become compared to all other providers offering the same type of packages. EE don’t even appear in the lists which says a lot . Will be cancelling on Monday and taking my pick of the large pool of deals available else where. Shame really because EE used to make an effort with their deals and customers, but have now become enveloped by corporate greed.  Amazing that they push already pricey deals to a new level, when everybody can quickly and simply find a better deal online, in a time when people’s money is already being squeezed.

The increase is based on the rate of inflation on the CPI index in January so the economy seems to be recovering. If next January, the office of national statistics publishes the rate of inflation has only increased over 12 months by 3%, the increase will be 8.9% next year. There's no point moaning about it. Network mobile contracts aren't eternal. They're 12 or 24 months. Tesco mobile don't charge mid contract price increases but they have 6% of the market. Why do you think that is? EE have and will continue to charge price increases. Loyalty doesn't really matter with any network. You're a consumer. They're a business trying to make as much money as possible to keep the shareholders happy. Twas ever thus. With respect, you're being totally unrealistic. You're a consumer. When you look to renew, research the market, look at their websites. Their terms and conditions in relation to price increases. The steps you could take in terms of timing your renewal to minimize the impact of the increase. Don't whine about a price increase the company is not going to change that is clearly stated in the terms and conditions. No network is going to remove a price increase for one customer and not for the rest of the 20 million customers. It's all over Twitter people moaning about price increases as if that's going to change anything. It's life.

It is. EE actually offer device finance agreements now. There are still the traditional all in one network plans bundled for airtime and equipment but EE also now offer device finance agreements where you can pay for the phone separately. New and existing customers (who are renewing can request a contract in this way) can avail of this.
