Disappointed - Lip service only

I submitted a complaint via the web form about what I considered very poor download speeds for business use.

We have done multiple tests with different hardware, SIMs, signal strengths, and compared the results on adjacent towers to prove that the data speed is limited (Capped) to sub 24MBps in the backhaul on the tower location that services our office.

I spoke to 2 very helpful level 2 engineers yesterday on the issue who would like to help but can’t. in their words “if I submit the request for further investigation it will get thrown back as above 6Mbps in a 4G area is considered ‘normal’.”

Despite the marketing from EE stating the fastest 4G network and no speed capping, and even in their advertising video implying that a lone house in the middle of nowhere is getting 90Mbps and so scan you. The reality is that if your download speed is > 6Mbps EE won’t even escalate the problem to look at the issue.

Unfortunately we are also a remote rural location and have no recourse to even a copper landline let alone fibre so are totally dependent upon wireless systems for both voice and data communications.

The EE website boasts it is investing 1.5 million a day at improving the network (I am guessing that is in Urban areas) but won’t even spend a few hundred pounds identifying a rural backhaul issue.

We purchased the EE business SIM as we perceived we would get a significant speed increase above the 3G service from a competitor. In reality the EE 4G download service is the same.

EE 4G network marketed as “the fastest available speed” in reality the “fastest guaranteed speed = 6Mpbs”, anything above that is bonus!

20Mbps download is adequate for a single consumer, for a business office with the current demands on video conferencing, webinar streaming, commercial software updates, etc. this is not sufficient. Moreover that fact that you won’t even look into why the backhaul is being limited to identify the reason is very disappointing.

Is that really what EE call a 4G business service is 2021?

It's hard to comment on the bulk of your post without knowing specifics - and this is a public forum so that is best discussed with C/S.

However, on your point about network investment, if anything the opposite is true. Alongside capacity improvements (4G-additions & 5G rollout) in populated areas, EE have several projects specifically targeting improvements to geographical reach in rural & remote areas.

Network backhaul is a complex area, and there are many factors that could be contributing to your situation. Out of interest, where (roughly) are you in the UK?
