Changed phones for one with dual SIM capability. Shows a different number

Bought a used phone(Samsung Galaxy A10) that had dual SIM capability. SIM1 is for a Lycamobile Portuguese number, and SIM2 is for my EE (SIM) account (UK number).

In Settings, I go through Connections/SIM card manager/ and it shows:

SIM 1 Portugal

Lycamobile

Unknown

SIM 2

EE

07377........

The SIM 2 number is completely unknown. How do I insert my real UK number? Also how do I add my Portuguese number in SIM 1?

I'm guessing these settings make no difference to the phone's functionality ? - but it would be nice to see my own numbers displayed.

Thank you

Hi @Spudee1917

I hope you're well and having a nice weekend, are you up to much or just having a chilled one?

This would usually change automatically, have you tried turning the phone off and back on since inserting the SIM cards?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

I'm well thanks, and having a good weekend, apart from the disaster in the rugby against the Springboks.

Hope you're well also.

Yes, I have switched the phone off and on several times since inserting the SIMs, but same result.

Cheers

Max

Thanks for trying that @Spudee1917

I know it was bad but it sets up and awesome series decider next weekend.

I would like to try doing something called a network refresh, to do that please follow the below instructions:

Step 1: Go to settings or Swipe down notification panel and tap on settings gear icon

Step 2: Tap on General management

Step 3: Tap on Reset under reset section

Step 4: Tap on Reset network settings

Step 5: Press Reset settings button

Step 6: Again tap on Reset settings

Once you have followed these steps you will need to re-enter any WiFi passwords you have saved. Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks

Chris

Could be the previous Owner has named the SIM Slots by the Phone  Number rather a SIM Name or Nick Name, eg you can name SIM 1, for example, as "Work SIM" and SIM 2 as "Travel SIM" or you could just put the "Phone Number" in there in order to make your Dual SIM Phone easier to use.

Have a look in Settings / Connections / Mobile Networks or SIM Management or similar, then look for Icon or Name for each SIM Slot and Add or Change to suit.

Good call.

I looked at the layout, and I named my SIM 1, Portugal

SIM 1 Portugal

Lycamobile

Unknown

For the UK sim

SIM 2 (never named this one)

EE

07377........

So when you name your SIM, it appears on the same line as "SIM 1" for example.

the "Unknown" and "07377...." appeared by default.

Thanks for trying.

Cheers

Hi @Spudee1917

If you have a chat with our tech gurus they may be able to have a closer look and advise on how to do this.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

I tried the reset network settings, but still the same problem.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Cheers

Yes but you can still Rename it for each SIM Slot.

So in Sim Slot 2 just rename it to your Number or Say, for example EE UK or something.

You're need to have a valid SIM in any slot your trying to rename, add or change though.

Thanks for your reply.

I can edit the SIM slots display, but I can only modify the first line.

So for SIM 2 slot,

I've renamed it EE UK

but the next 2 lines remain:

EE

07377....

Unless you know a way to edit these 2 lines? - which appear to be set by the network?

Cheers
