Hi I am stranded in Australia and have changed my monthly payment down to £20 a month from £38 but as I am not using my phone I was wondering if I could change it to a PAYG (so that I can keep my number) as from time to time Banks etc. send security codes etc. But basically I am not using my phone (not since February). Also when I changed it down to the £20 I didn't have to do anything. If I was able to change it to a PAYG would I have to put a new SIM card in. Postage here is rubbish. If not the PAYG sim I saw a deal for £9 for a 24mth contract?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@dimclean You can not change from a contract to a PAYG when abroad this has to be done when connected to the EE network directly as you sim will not activate as a PAYG sim.
as for lowering the tariff if your in contract you can not lower that contract just because your not using it.

@dimclean This may not assist you or be relevant, but the Roam Further pass allowing you to use your existing allowance in Australia & New Zealand, may assist you.
Otherwise, as per @Chris_B posts..
