I have BT Sport as part of my tariff.
I can watch it on my phone and my iPad no problem. My question is what is the problem with casting it to a smart TV? Are there different versions of a BT Sport package through EE?
- I have used a HDMI cable method. The sound works and the visual shows until you press play/live - a message from bt on the screen comes up “sorry you can’t watch BT Sport by mirroring your device”
- I have tried to aircast via available methods (direct to the tv, via Apple etc) - nothing
- I have downloaded the bt sport app to the smart tv (Samsung 2017 model) and after entering log on details it says that a subscription update is required and to contact your provider.
Any thoughts? Thanks

So if you are having the same issue the answer is it costs £10 per month, the Max plan BT Sport add on doesn’t include casting. Worth knowing if you see it as a good deal.

Hi @HashDL.
Welcome to the community.
Mirroring is not a supported way of casting the BT Sort app to your TV.
You will need to use either a Chromecast or Apple TV.
Have a look at our BT Sport Casting Help Page for more information.

Yeah, I had already tried that first as per point 2. It doesn’t work. The BT Sport app has a casting option that defaults to a blank screen (tried this on a number of devices). I guess you don’t know the answer as it is third party controlled app and content - which makes it a bit worthless but thanks for replying.

Hi @HashDL.
Do you have an Apple TV box or a Chromecast?
Casting directly to a TV is not possible, it needs to go through one of these devices.

Thanks Jon. I’m using Apple TV box. It works perfectly for everything except the bt sport app which will only allow sound and no visual. I’ve run lots of other apps through it such as bbc channel 4 etc etc and they all work. Bt sport clearly have a code written into it to prevent it working. I’ll have to watch it via iPad and accept it for what it is. Thanks again

Thanks @HashDL.
It sounds like you may need to add the casting feature to your account.
You can do this by texting Sport to 150.

I’ve added this to my account at an extra £5 a month and it still doesn’t work. Sound only but no visual
