Can I use the Netgear XR1000 Router with my EE Fibre Max 2 Broadband?

I'm looking at buying a new router at home and preferably something that is great for a house of gaming enthusiasts/nerds. Three of us can be gaming at any one time, plus the missus, who loves to stream series'/podcasts etc.

I've seen the Netgear XR1000, which looks very top range, would this work OK? Or do I need a specific router for ADSL/VDSL?

If not, any suggestions very welcome indeed.

Not on its own, It incorporates no modem. You would need to get an OR G.Fast modem to use with it or get instead a ADSL/VDSL/G.Fast modem router. OR G.Fast modems can be had on eBay.
