Hi again @woody66.

If you're struggling to log in to see your bill details at the moment too, then it definitely sounds like something isn't quite right with how your account is set up at our end.

This could very well be contributing to the issues you're  having viewing content via the EE TV player too.

I'll still come back and let you know if I get any details back from the TV team, but our customer care team will be best equipped to take a look at your account as a whole, and investigate what could be causing these wider issues.

Having similar issues with the EE Desktop TV player on Windows 11 PC.

I was a BT Broadband customer with a BT Sports subscription (but not BT TV) until beginning of the month.  BT contract was ending so switched to EE Broadband with TV and Entertainment included.  Installed EE TV app on my Samsung phone and it works fine. On my PC I can watch Discovery+ content via a web browser (Edge or Chrome) by browsing to discovery+ (https://www.discoveryplus.com/gb) and signing in with my EE account. I can also browse to bt.com and select Sport/Watch which then takes me to the same Discovery+ site.

However, I've been trying to get the EE TV Windows Desktop Player app to work and have had no success despite 1 hr phone calls to the EE TV helpline.  Here's what happens:

  1.  I browse with Edge or Chrome to https://player.ee.co.uk/#/home and login with my EE ID.
  2. I select something to watch which I know plays on the EE TV app on my phone (e.g. "Lomu - The Lost Tapes")
  3. This takes the browser to a new page which contains a "play" panel with a Start Watching arrow
  4. Clicking on the arrow in the browser starts an instance of BT TV Player (which I was prompted to install when I tried to play my first content).  The player shows the title of what it's trying to play with the control buttons (Pause, Mute, Sub Titles etc) but the content doesn't play. I just get 3 bouncing dots and nothing streams.
  5. I've re-installed the app but no change
  6. Additionally, when I go to My TV, Settings, Device Management it shows me that I have reached my device limit (4) and cannot change anything for 30 days.  1 of the devices is my Smart phone but the other 3 are all for the same Desktop PC I'm trying to get working!  I therefore cannot try the player on another PC because, when I do, I'm told I've reached my device limit. I asked the helpline if this could be reset (as I'm able to with Sky) but they where unable to find a way of doing it.

I get the distinct impression that the PC Desktop app isn't really ready for prime time or there's some problems with it transferring from BT to EE.  Pointers to how to get it to work would be welcome.

I’m having issues with the EE app/TV. I can only watch on my EE Pro box. I have Apple TV’s on two other TVs and was told I could download the app and use it on laptops as well, but when logged in, I can only see Discovery Channel. No others. I turned down the free TV boxes as I wanted to use my existing Apple TV’s. The app is the same on phone and iPad only discovery. The Pro box then says I’ve changed my main box? It’s just a bit of a mess. I was kind of sold on a TV system I could use one of the things I already had. It’s a great service for the most part, but this is not on the same level as Sky or even virgin.

Any help is appreciated.

@ALT2

Besides Discovery, I can see TNT, Eurosport,  the Asian Channels, and Sony,  I’m not subscribed to any of them, but I wonder why you don’t see them? Everything I’m subscribed to, though, I don’t see there.

So the EETV app, on this iPad and presumably on Windows too, isn’t a portable equivalent to an EETV device, if you want to rove beyond the channel providers listed above.

You probably shouldn’t have turned down those free boxes when you had the chance, as only one is free now, but you could ask for that. It will make another TV EETV-capable, but wouldn’t help with an iPad or laptop. Except that you would get Multiroom with the free box, which should mean that you avoid the ‘main box’ issue you describe.

It’s just the live channels in the EPG, and their convenience, you don’t get with iPad or laptop though; you can log on to any of the apps, e.g. Now, on these devices, and watch with your EETV subscription, if you have one.

*Longtime YouView box owner & broadband customer (was BT now EE), but only recently a full EETV subscriber*

All gone a bit quiet here!  I've been talking to EE Help line again and they've asked me to send screen shots of what happens when I try to play content using the Windows Desktop EE TV Player app as described in my earlier post.  Hope that gets some response from the EE team.  Will post here if I get anywhere.
