As a new EE member, I was told it is best to leave my TV box on all the time, never switch it off, is that correct?  I have tried to find videos or article that would tell me the correct way to use the TV Box.  What I do now is, when I finish watching a film etc, all I do is switch off the TV, but the TV box remains on, is the correct?  Even though I DO NOT switch the TV box off, I notice it is switched off in the morning.  Does it switch off its self after a certain time?

It's recommended that you don't switch the POWER off to the box - i.e. don't turn off the switch on the back of the box, or the socket on the wall.

You can put the box into standby though, by pressing the power button on the remote.  This will ensure it's using as little power as possible when you're not using it.  If you don't press the power button then it'll put itself into standby by default, and it'll also go into deep sleep overnight to save even more power.

The box will automatically wake itself up to update the software on it, and to performance self-maintenance tasks. This is why it's recommended that you don't turn off the power - it'll ensure the box is running as best it can.

Thank you so much for your advise, which I will do. All the best, Michael

@Scotsman-46  Within the settings section of the TV Box Pro accessed  at the bottom left of the Home page there is under BOX MANAGEMENT a  Power& Standby section which allows you to manage the power setting and Standby modes and Deep Sleep times of your box,

So you are able configure when the box goes into Automatic Standby (options are i think  2/3/4 or12 hours ) and  the hours to start and end the deep sleep period assuming you use the recomended SMART Standby Mode.

As for actual power usage this document

https://ee.co.uk/content/dam/help/terms-and-conditions/general/declaration-of-conformity/power-effic...

lists the expected power usage as published by EE.

Thank you for all that information, it has helped a lot. Now all I have to do now is fix my printer so I can print all this info for later. When I had all EE's gear installed, and all "Virgin Media" (VM) gear uninstalled, my printer still has VM showing on the printers screen. All I need to do to get it printing again is to connect my desktop & laptop to my Canon TS5100 all-in-one printer to show EE instead of VM on the screen. I did this 13 years ago when I joined VM, but have to look up on how to find the easy way. Anyway all the best, Michael
