There are several versions of scam text messages circulating at the moment. We wanted to let you see examples of what these may look like so that you can keep your details safe.
The messages advise that either a payment has failed, a direct debit has failed or that your profile needs to be updated to prevent payment failure. Remember to never log into your account via a link in a message, always log into your account directly.
These messages are fake and have not come from EE, here are some examples of what they can look like.
If you've received one of these messages, or something similar, don't worry. Receiving a suspicious text, email or voice call won't harm you – harm can only come if you interact with it
Just remember these important tips:
- Don’t click on links unless you’re 100% sure they are genuine
- Take a moment to stop and think and trust your instincts. If it looks too good to be true or looks suspicious, it probably is
- Don’t give any of your personal details or give anyone access to your computer – if you think you might have provided your bank account details, contact your bank immediately
For more information on how to stay safe online and report these message take a look at our Spam and phishing article.
