Not sure if a scam call

I just received a call from a mobile number 07403 614847 claiming to be from EE. Saying I needed a replacement sim as mine was an old style one and would stop working soon. Then asked me if had any network issues and said would be giving me 40% discount on my bill because of this. This is when the call didn't seem to be genuine. Then passed me on to someone else, supposedly to tell me the time this sim would be delivered. They then sent me a text which was asking me to change the password on my EE account so they could carry out maintenance on my account. I told them then that I felt this wasn't genuine and why was I being asked to change my ee account password. The number that text me to ask me to reset my ee password was +44 7899 804646. Has anyone else had this? I'm worrying now my sim card may stop working if this was genuine but it appeared suspicious as they were asking me for information which EE would have already on my account.

That's a scammer all day long. Wanting you to disclose & change security details should be a red flag every time.

Terminate the call, report it by texting CALL 07403614847 to 7726 and then block the number.

Hi @LM1981

Thanks for coming to the community.

I can see you have had advice on reporting this call and blocking the number please follow this.

Could I just check did you provide any details or change the password for the account?

Thanks.

Leanne.

I did. When they started to ask me things like that or things EE should already know on my account, I challenged him. He just then kept repeating what was obviously a script about needing access to my account to perform maintenance. I hung up on him then and reported and blocked the numbers. Wanted to make other people aware of it.

This was the point I definitely knew it was a scan and challenged him. Just wanted to make other people aware of it. Numbers have been reported and blocked.

Thanks @LM1981

If you provided details, please change any passwords that may use the same email and password details to be on the safe side. You can also call us on 150 and the team will make sure no account changes have been completed for you.

Leanne.

I have already reported and blocked the numbers. No, I didn't change the password for the account. When they asked me to do this I challenged them and ended the call.
