Porting from O2

Provided EE with the relevant information for porting from O2 last night and received a message saying "the port in is all set up and will take place by 6pm on 31st Dec 4700"  Is it normal to have a completion date so far down the line?

Is it possible to activate new sim without old sim & device as I don’t have access to them but it says to send a pin to number which I can’t get as don’t have access to old sim or device
