If you’re porting to EE, or moving to another network, you’ll need to get a PAC or a STAC depending on if you want to keep your number.
Moving to EE?
If you’ve got a PAC from another network and you’re looking to move your number to EE, you can do this by following one of the following options:
- Contact our Mobile Care Team and give them the number that came with your new SIM and your PAC.
- Complete our Keeping Your Number form online.
Thinking of leaving us? Here’s how to do it.
If you are considering switching to another provider and you want to know if you would have to pay any early termination charges, you can:
- Check your My EE Account.
- Get in touch with our Mobile Care Team.
- Send us a text message with the word ‘INFO’ to 85075. We’ll then provide you with the information and send you a text message.
Moving to a new provider and taking your mobile number with you.
If you want to switch mobile provider and keep your mobile number, you will need to request a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC). You can get a PAC free of charge by following one of the following options:
- Get in touch with our Mobile Care Team.
- Your My EE Account.
- By sending a text message with the word ‘PAC’ to 65075.
If you choose to text us for your PAC, we’ll send it to you via text message. This message will include any early termination charges for terminating your contract before its end date.
A PAC will allow you to move your existing mobile number to any other UK mobile network.
Once you have given your PAC to your new provider, they will be able to switch your number the next working day.
For requests made after 17:30 on a weekday, on a weekend or bank holiday, the request will take an extra working day.

About your PAC.
- Your PAC is valid for 30 days.
- We recommend you use your PAC within 26 days to prevent any delays caused by bank holidays and weekends.
- If you don't use the PAC, your account will remain open and you'll continue to be charged for services.
- If you decide you don't want to use your PAC but would still like to cancel your contract, let us know before your PAC expires.
Moving to a new provider without keeping your current mobile number.
If you want to change mobile provider and automatically cancel your current service but not keep your mobile number, you can request a Service Termination Authorisation Code (STAC).
You can get a STAC free of charge through one of the following options:
- Get in touch with our Mobile Care Team.
- Your My EE Account.
- By sending a text message with the word ‘STAC’, to 75075.
If you choose to text us for your STAC, we’ll send it to you via text message. This message will include any early termination charges for terminating your contract before its end date.
If you need to unlock your phone to use with your new provider, please head over to our unlocking page.

Hi @hannimator.
Welcome to the community.
I'm sorry to hear this, in this case the best way to get the number transferred over would be to contact our Customer Care team.
The hold time may be slightly longer than usual.

@Jon_K
Thanks for quick reply
Mind advising on best times to call? I can't even get through, there is no hold. I just get told to call back later.
Also can you report the issue with the website?

Usually early morning would be better, @hannimator.
I'll have a look into that and see what I can do.

Hi. I submitted an online form to transfer my partners number from Vodafone to EE on Monday 6th April. He received a confirmation from EE within minutes to confirm the transfer request would take place within one working day but the transfer has not happened yet...
My partners handset is a new additional line on my account.
Are you able to give any advice on what I should do?

Good Afternoon @Judy-.
Thanks for coming to the EE Community.
Are you aware if the number is still active with Vodafone?
If yes, I would recommend giving us a call so our mobile care team can check the status of your partner's number port.
Katie 🙂

I'm trying to transfer my number from 3, and got the same "Please make sure you enter the right phone number. It must be a UK phone number and start with 07" error as the other person. I'm unable to phone at the moment though. Any other way to sort this?

Thanks for the quick reply. I was trying to sort a flex plan out, so no I haven’t started paying for that yet. I do have my sim working with the new number I’ve been sent though.

Thanks but I’m not looking to do it over the phone.
