New sim

I lost my phone and ordered a new phone and a replacement sim. Sim arrived yesterday and I inserted it in to my phone but there is no signal. Due to my old sim being lost my new sim which arrived states that I should just insert the new one and it should work without activation.

When you lost your previous SIM did you call customer services? if so, are you aware if they placed a bar on your account?
