Getting a new phone+sim and gifting old one to family member?

Hiya, just wondering, a family member of mine (We live in the same household)'s phone is breaking down, so I was thinking of getting a new phone with a new sim on EE, then gifting my old phone with the current sim to them, but possibly transfering the number from her old sim to my current sim then the number from my current sim to the new sim? Is this possible? Seems a bit messy but it'd work out cheaper in the end due to the discount you get from having multiple sim contracts.

Not possible! As soon as you move your current no. you lose your current contract.

Just upgrade your plan to a new phone and add a new SIM for them to use.

Or alternatively, upgrade your plan to a SIM Only and add a new phone and SIM plan for them but take the phone for yourself, giving them just the SIM. You don't have to use the phone with the plan you purchase it with necessarily.
