Can anyone confirm whether the freephone numbers are genuinely free when calling from outside the UK?
We are outside our contract coverage area.
My husband's phone was stolen & we need to report it. We don't want to be charged an arm & a leg.

Is it an 0800 number? If so, you could call using a VOIP service such as Skype, this would be 100% free over WiFi.

UK 0800 numbers are only required to be free from within the UK.
Foreign networks are not required to route to these numbers, let alone do so FOC.
Most companies offer 01,02,03 or (in the case of mobile networks) or 07 numbers for international callers - publicised in +44 (0) format for ease.
