New to EE - SIM card question

Hello - I’ve just got an EE mobile contract having previously been with 02.

Sorry to sound like a Luddite but my new SIM card has just arrived but before i change them what will happen to my current data (specifically WhatsApp messages)?  I’ve a few sentimental messages from people no longer here so don’t want to lose them.
I am keeping my current mobile number

Hi! I changed from o2 to EE a few years ago now - when I changed, I just put the EE sim in after taking the o2 out and that was it. Nothing on my actual phone eg messages, voicemails, whatsapps etc were affected at all. I hope that helps🙂

If you are transferring your number then What's App will not be affected. You can also back up your chat history within the app.

I would suggest waiting to use it until your number transfers, if you are porting or putting your old sim back in until the transfer completes to avoid any potential issues with it asking you to link to the temporary number

As you are keeping your current mobile number nowt outside that depends on your no., like WhatsApp, will change.

Any msgs you have from the past are held on your phone, not your SIM.

Sorry - another daft question. When will I know my number has transferred? I did the PAC code request on Wednesday and my Sim arrived yesterday

Your no. should port with 1 working day of when you activate the EE SIM on the EE network.
