Upgrade to a sim only deal how long does it take ?

  • Upgraded 10am on Wednesday 28th august they took the early upgrade fee which is no longer pending and sent me details of my new tariff but nothing has chnged on my account.

how long does it take ?

A change of price plan done via CS is normally active immediately if you're outside your minimum term - are you?

If you're within minimum term, it will usually be set to take effect on the day of expiry.

I've no experience of requesting the change via online/app, but it's worth checking your plan there - it may have changed and not realised.

So what is the early upgrade fee for ? 

The whole point of the early upgrade fee is to upgrade earlier than your contract allows 

 

I’ve upgraded to a sim only deal so from checking the forums it should be within 48

hours so it should be today hmm

@gadget1973  If you’ve paid off the remaining term of a contract the new contract should start within less than 24 hours.      

It’s only after the minimum term if you are on a full device contract and you are within the standard upgrade period and are moving over to a sim only contract.   Then you have to see out the full term of the device contract before the sim only will commence 

This doesn’t apply if you are paying an early upgrade fee as you are paying off the contract to upgrade early.

Yes that was my understanding too i was on a contract phone but upgraded to a sim only on wednesday i paid the early upgrade fee its less than 45 days till my old contract ends so assumed the new one would start on wednesday or thursday just checked and my account still gives me my old tariff  early upgrade fee has been taken not pending. 

 

Other than a welcome to your new tariff email on wednesday its been radio silence from EE

i've just contacted EE spoke to ashley my order doesn't appear on any of their systems neither does the upgrade fee not sure if theres been a problem with orders but he wasn't suprised or concerned.

He just said he could sort it out by redoing the original order he tried but he wanted me to take the unlimited data but capped at 100mb which wasn't the offer i got so refused he went away and came back with unlimited data and speed for the same price i confirmed with him it was definatly unlimited data and uncapped speed  5g and he said yes we proceeded to the agreement papers it did say 33 simo saying just unlimited but it was reduced to the price of the orignal offer.

After completing got afew texts about discounts and i believe its gone live but my phone now says E rather than 5g or 4g which is unsual. 

I've also just got the email where its still the 100mb cap which i refused so back on the CS now 

I hope they don;t try to say that ashley didn't say unlimted data and uncapped 5g as i have recorded the conversation.

contacted CS spoke to Andy he sorted everything out * crosses fingers*

 solved all the problems ashly had created he honoured the original deal  he could see my original order on the 28th while cancelled the deal that Ashly had created. 

If only EE had many more Andys
