Phone credit, why is my credit almost finished after a 6 minute UK call

I topped up recently and am baffled why I have under a £ left on my phone

Cannot send or receive texts or calls abroad

I’m currently in the US and cannot make or receive texts or calls. This is a major issue as I need to receive codes to access my online accounts. It’s also the only 2 ways to contact EE support. Could someone please assist?
