Hi.
I recently bought a new phone, a Nubia Red Magic 3 (Android 9.0, about the same hardware platform as a One Plus 7).
I plan to use it on EE, instead of my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, but so far I have a problem. When someone calls me I dont get the phone number or the name, just "Unknown caller".
What I tried so far:
1. I moved the SIM card into a different phone, it's working properly;
2. I tried a Vodafone and a Virgin SIM with the phone, no problems on those networks;
3. Phoned EE support, they did a Network Reset on my account, same problem. They also suggested a phone reset, which I did, without using a backup to restore. Same problem. The customer support lady ended up suggesting I should buy a phone from EE in order to avoid this kind of problem.
Wondering if anyone has an idea/suggestion on this matter.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Hi @Antony737800,
As that didn't resolve the issue, I'd recommend contacting your phone's manufacturer for support.
Thanks

I have, but slow response however they mentioned other networks have no issues but said will look into it and I am still waiting. Hope for the best cause EE ain't going to do much about it for one person. If it was a wider issue then they would have 😁. Not to worry. Thanks for your help. Appreciate it.

Sorry didn't realise your EE tech team.. No offence . Appreciate your help.

No problem @Antony737800
As this is a software issue I'm afraid it can't be resolved by EE.
Please let us know if you get a solution from the manufacturer.
Thanks
James

Hi @Antony7378320,
Sorry, as this is an issue with your phone's firmware, we wouldn't be able to help with this.
Thanks
James

I have the same issue.
It's NOT an issue with the phone. The issue is with EE.
I had a problem with my iPhone 6.
Same with my new iPhone SE 2020.
if my partner put their SIM in my phone, it works fine.
If I put my SIM in my partner's phone, the unknown caller ID still shows.
This issue has NOT been solved.
The problem is with the EE Sim, and never with the phone.
