Small emoji do u get charged in text message

Hi there if I send small emoji in a standard text message will I get charge for it

@Den123 : You do if the Input Mode Setting of Text Msgs is the GSM Alphabet but not if it's UNICODE.

SMS (texts) can be encoded in 3 diff ways:

  1. Using the GSM 7-bit alphabet allowing up to 160 chars per SMS. This is the traditional format & is often the default.
  2. Using an 8-bit alphabet allowing up to 140 chars per SMS.
  3. Using the UNICODE (UCS-2) 16-bit alphabet allowing up to 70 chars per SMS. This format is intended to support chars of of alphabets other than our Roman alphabet, like Chinese.

Emojis can only fit into 3. the UNICODE alphabet.

Sorry, I don't know Apple to suggest where the setting for these options can be made but it should be somewhere in the Messenger app's settings.
