Turning off RCS messaging on a Doro 6820

Hi All,

Just bought my father in law a new phone, as we had a text telling us his old one would no longer work when 3g is turned off. I've since found out you can still make calls it's just data that is affected.
Oh well.

Anyway, his new phone has immediately filled up with codes for RCS messaging, such that his inbox is full.

I've deleted them all and done some googling, and this message appears to be connected to google messaging, but I cannot find any way of turning it off.

Anyone have a clue?

I've been into settings and message settings and cannot find anything that is related to RCS messaging.

I don't need any sort of messaging, all he does with his phone is make calls, and that is only on the very odd occasion, as he has dementia and doesn't go out on his own very often at all these days, but having a phone on him keeps him happy and my wife.

That's great, we've just bought my father in law a new phone that works on 4g. Ok, it wasn't expensive but it'll be new and different to him, as he has dementia and that's not going to be good.  He also only uses his phone for phone calls, he doesn't text, listen to the radio or take pictures.  Arrrrrrgggggghhhhh

Now to find out how to turn off RCS, as his message box was full of rcs messages.

The option to enable/disable RCS/Chat should be under Settings > Message Settings > Chat settings, or similar. The exact location may vary between Android versions.

It isn't, I did some googling and tried what I could find but there were no chat settings.

That's what I found when googling, but we don't have a chat setting or anything similar in message settings.

Doro have told me to do a factory reset on the phone and then to update to latest version and all should be good???????

The phone is back with him now, so I'll have another look when we visit tomorrow.

Thanks both.
