I’m having the exact same problem today in NZ.
If I turn off automatic network selection, I can see the other networks but cannot join any of them.
luckily I have an Airalo eSim for data , but I can’t make / receive any business from my EE number - which is the whole point of it.
Ive just come from Dubai and it was working fine there. My wife is on O2 and her phone / sim is working fine, so it’s an EE thing for sure.
Is there any solution from EE here ? I can’t make any calls so asking me to call EE is adding insult to injury.
thanks
Craig

There’s still definitely a problem with my account / sim. I’ll try to phone EE one last time from the airport tonight at 10pm.
Not necessarily so. There's either an account issue, or you've been very unfortunate and there's something awry between all 3 Kiwi networks and EE's UK interface.
Only testing with another otherwise-working EE phone on the same networks, and/or your phone in another country, will prove which.

Hey again ,
I called EE again from Skype whilst waiting for my flight to Singapore. The support person said I had the wrong kind of roaming package on my account and asked if i can reset my network settings. I didn’t feel comfortable doing that just before I board a plane , so I’m no further on.
This , coupled with the fact that my Airalo E Sim is working flawlessly on my unlocked iPhone implies to me at least that this is an EE account issue not really a NZ network glitch.
Anyway, I’ll try again in S’pore and failing that , well, there’s nothing I can do until I get back to the UK.

Hi all, just thought I’d throw in my 2 cents as I have just arrived in NZ and was having the same issues. For context I am on a plan that allows me one free add on, so I chose free roaming world wide.
Similar to the original poster, I have traveled the EU and had no trouble at all. However when I arrived in Auckland I didn’t receive the “welcome to NZ” text.
As suggested in previous comments I called EE using Skype. Turns out my issue is that even though on my end I have ‘world wide roaming’ on the technical EE end, I only has EU roaming. So all EE had to do was put activate another free add on, ‘world wide roaming’. Then I just had to restart my device and then I received the ‘welcome to NZ’ text with full reception.
Hope this helps anyone else down the line!

For clarification, there's 2 parts to any roaming query.
1: Enabling global roaming, allowing your phone to connect to foreign networks. Without this, you will get no coverage abroad with consequences for calls, texts & mobile data, There is an EU-specific facility, but texting ROAMING to 150 from the UK allows full global access.
2: Billing add-ons, to reduce the cost of roaming. You cannot have any costs to roam without the ability to roam in the first place!
It sounds like the previous respondent had chosen the Roam Further add-on but only had EU-specific roaming active.

So it appears that it was all caused by the wrong roaming option being added to my account.
The option was changed before I flew to Singapore but it didn’t connect there either so the problem wasn’t resolved until I got back to the UK. Pretty poor really.
Cust services say it’s fixed now but can’t 100% prove it until I travel abroad again - I’m not a fan of taking chances like that I have to say.
Anyway thanks everyone here the support !
