EE cancelled sim after saying I requested PAC Code but never did

I was added as a second sim on my partners account. We PAC over my old number and all was working fine with no issues. Suddenly last Tuesday I lost all mobile signal. When I later checked in the EE App the sim with my number has disappeared. We called EE and was told we requested a PAC Code and they have closed the sim.
My understanding is a PAC Code only works if given to a new network. We never requested a PAC Code from EE and definitely never used it. We was told we would be contacted in a couple of days (still waiting) and the wait times are rediclous to even talk to anyone. My main worry is getting my phone number back as all my one time pass codes are linked to that number. What is the chances on me getting the number back?
I have been checking everything that had one time passcodes and nothing abnormal has happened but really just want to know if I there is any chance of getting my number back.

Your understanding is correct. The request of a PAC has no purpose other than for you having it. It is the act of giving youe PAC (Porting Authority Code) to a new provider that instigates a transfer and cancels any existing contract.

Whatever has happened in your case is account-specific, and thus only CS (who have access to your account) can advise further.

@TMG5   Have you informed your bank/s ?   This if it’s sim swap fraud could have a big financial impact on you.   You need to inform all the services that have your number as a 2FA.    Amazon.eBay,PayPal to name a few.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
