A photo sent over RCS would come out of your data allowance and not charge extra. Are you sending through Google Messaging?

Yes as long as the message goes via this service and not EE SMS gateway.

In the message text box on iPhone it should say either SMS or RCS before you start typing to let you know if both phones support it.

@Dode_ As it was originally an Android message service and iOS picked it up as of iOS 18 both devices do support it. It being enabled on both is something else.
