Not Getting Login Passcode Via SMS

I've transferred my number over from Three using the PAC code. I can get both calls and texts on my transferred number, so the transfer has worked fine.

My problem is when I try to set up the data on my AppleWatch I'm taken to a login screen which won't allow me to log in with my passkey (Face ID etc.) so it gets me to request passcodes to my email first, which works no problem, but then it sends a passcode to my number (the correct number with the correct last 4 digits) but that text never comes.

I have tried this at least 8 times throughout today and the text never comes.

I have had a friend text me from a non-Apple phone to ensure I can get texts and that is fine.

I don't know what to do now.

Can you receive texts from other automated senders? If so, this sounds like an issue with Apple's login system

How so, it's a text message I am not receiving. This is after I have moved from the Apple login system.

The passcode to my email is fine but the passcode to my phone number is not getting to me.

When exactly did you port-in?

I have had a few texts from EE, but have been getting those since before the confirmation that the number was ported over.

The number was ported over early this morning (showed up on the EE App first and then had a text later confirming it.

If today is your port-in date, I'd suggest trying other sites who may use automated text-based OTP - see if the issue happens with others (suggesting a network-side delay) or is just Apple's login site.

I have signed into my account on Gov.UK and had the text message immediately.

I'm still not getting the confirmation text from EE, even though the app shows the correct number both on the account and in the security section which specifically states this is the number which will be used if they aren't sure it is me logging in.

In your first post you mentioned "My problem is when I try to set up the data on my AppleWatch I'm taken to a login screen" - is this an Apple-screen or an EE-one?

I'm not familiar with iOS, but my advice thus far has been based on the scenario where you can't receive texts from one particular third party, but can do others.

The login screen is for EE, it is the EE account which can't / won't send the text to the correct place.

What happens is:

  • On my iPhone I open the Apple Watch app
  • I then go to the 'Mobile service' setting
  • This then has only one option which is 'Set up mobile service' which I tap
  • This opens up a browser within the app (so not a browser app) which is on the EE website login page
  • I type my email for my EE account then tap 'Next'
  • It then says 'Your passkey didn't work - Don't worry, this can happen from time-to-time' [Note: the passkey works in the EE app on my phone using Face ID and it also works on the EE website on my MacBook using Touch ID]
  • I tap the 'Try logging in again' button
  • Here I have two options, either 'Continue with passkey' or 'send verification codes instead'
  • When I try the 'send verification codes instead' option EE sends the first code to my email within 10 seconds.
  • I enter the email code and select 'verify passcode'
  • I then get a message saying EE have sent a passcode to my phone number and that's as far as it goes...

I've still never had a code by text from EE, so it isn't like the codes are being delayed, they're just not being sent.

I have tried the same process by logging in to the app on my phone but instead of using the passkey via Face ID, I try the manual passcodes via email then text, it is the exact same issue, so it isn't restricted to setting up the watch data, it is an issue manually logging in to my EE account using my email and phone number.
