If you have a pay monthly account, did you text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK to make sure the account was fully set up for roaming?

In a post further up this thread, Leanne asked whether the OP had setup roaming before leaving the UK. The OP subsequently replied once to say "yes" and again to say "no".
The answer to this is fundamental to why your phone won't work abroad - if you have not, then you need to contact EE CS to request roaming is enabled.
If the "yes" answer was correct, then trying to connect to other available networks manually should eventually work - at which point auto-selection can be re-enabled.

- 'Yes' was in response to "PAYG or contract?" & therefore was a non-answer.
