Please help, I want to find out if by just turning on Airplane mode on my iPhone will disable roaming charges abroad. So that for example, accidentally reading my text messages, or sending text message or listening to voice mail while on Airplane mode but connected to a Wi-Fi does not incur roaming charges.
Many thanks

Airplane Mode will disable all connection to any mobile network. It follows that you will not be able to roam & therefore incur no roaming charges.

Receiving & reading new text messages is free of charge, but cannot be done abroad without a mobile network connection.
You mention "listening to voicemail while on airplane mode but connected to WiFi". WiFi-calling is not supported abroad, but if it does happen to work, will be charged as if you were roaming. It has never been a way to avoid call or text charges.

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance & trust it is now sorted.

@jshall You’ll not receive or accidentally send a text message if airplane mode is enabled you’ll not be connected to a network for this to happen. Airplane mode stops the cellular network connection. You will how ever when connected to WiFi receive iMessages as these are sent via data.

Yes, but that'll be WiFi data, not mobile data. That ain't roaming. You can do all sort of other things over WiFi but it's still not roaming.

@Chris_B : Why not mention email, browsing, d/loading... while you're at it? The OP is about roaming charges.
