This is a perennial problem for many people receiving increasing numbers of unsolicited 0843 calls.
These 0843 numbers can be blocked individually but organised scammers have hundred of these numbers so just call again using a different 0843 number.
Why does EE not allow the prefix 0843 to be blocked?
Surely it is not that much of a technical conundrum?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Why should the onus be on the user to manage this nuisance when the technology to manage this more efficiently clearly exists.
Mark my words that in the near future this will become a serious offcom issue where the network providers will be forced to deal with this issue when people start raising criminal cases etc.

The simple solution for EE is for them to provide their customers with the know how on how to prevent these calls. It’s really simple, use the following website www.ukphoneinfo.com to track down the UK telecommunications company by using the number you had been telephoned from, in this example I had been called from an 0843 866 number. By searching the website for this prefix, it will list the company who hosts the number. With a simple google search you should be able to find their contact information, send them an email asking them to remove your details.

And I am expected to do this 4 to 5 times a day as that is how many of these nuisance calls I receive .

I accidentally dial the 0843 numbers about twice a month by touching the wrong part of the screen after they have called . It’s the scam where they allow 2 rings then hang up and you are supposed to call them back to see who it was. It’s easy to accidentally ring the premium rate number from the notification message. I get charged 89p access charge each time and around 7p for the service charge. Then ee collects the money and HMRC gets its vat*
My question is:
Can ee bar me dialling 0843 premium rate numbers?
Thank you
* is this the wages of sin?

The TPS only block a full number like many people know there are hundreds and hundreds of 0843 numbers every year I currently get 1 or 2 per day and I block them individually but they keep coming.

It is pathetic TPS can’t block prefixes only the complete number which you can block on your phone - it solves nothing so the advice from EE is actually worthless
