Very poor signal strength in north Birmingham

Very poor signal strength in Sutton Coldfield area the past 7 days.  EE did say work being done at a local EE 5G mast, but 5 days later the signal is still very poor or non existant inside my own home. It has never been very good in this area but now even worse.    Hope it's temporary!

Hi @Frosty46Bham

Have you tried restarting your device.

Thanks

Hi my mobile is switched off every night so is restarted every morning.
I have restarted several times during the day, or switched on Airplane
mode then off again. No change. This has been going on now for a week.
My original comment of weeks ago was why is BT/EE 5G so slow in comparison
to within Europe!? While in Europe I had speeds of 250mbps in Germany and
Switzerland and above even in Croatia! 450mbps in Basle Switzerland. UK
serious lagging behind despite what BT boast about.

Best wishes

Hi @Frosty46Bham

Does it still say there is maintenance works when you check the status of your postcode on our coverage checker?

Chris

Not sure. I can only tell you what the EE guy told me about ongoing
maintenance work last week in B75 area.

Could you pop your postcode into the coverage checker that I linked to and hit 'check status' please, @Frosty46Bham?

All EE network sites carry multiple radio technologies, and all 5G sites rely on co-located 4G. So your "5G mast" will also carry 2G & 4G as a minimum.

Use the status checker as already mentioned, for further checks.

Hi thanks for that. I appreciate that any EE mast will likely also have
3,4 & 5g capability to cover every user's needs. But that still doesn't
offer any reason why UK 5G is half the speed that's available across the
channel! The signal here at B75 is still very poor in comparison to
November and wonder if it's related to the cold weather? Best wishes J

Cold weather would not directly impact data speeds, a signal indicator that appears poorer can often give better performance if it means higher-band carriers are in use.

A comparison between UK & foreign MNO performance would be very complex.
