Hi,
On 5 days ago 4g signal dissapeared from my phone, leaving me with only edge "E" and no internet connectivity.
The phone is a Huawei P20 Pro and has otherwise been fine - no changes made by me and no updates .
I have tried cycling airplane mode/power and have tried resetting network settings, neither have worked. It seems that very intermittently, the signal has come back as some whatsapp messages have sent. I have checked the signal strength currently and it's -96dBa, so it seems that the phone is receiving reasonable signal.
Any suggestions as to what to try?
thanks

Is this happening in just one specific locality, or is it more general?
I'm not surprised that the network settings reset had no effect, but flight mode should normally work - assuming 4G is on-air and there's not a local fault.
Try making or receiving a call - is 4G restored shortly after the call is terminated, say within 30seconds?

I thought it was local initially but having travelled aberdeen - edinburgh - carlisle - glasgow - aberdeen in the last week, it seems to be everywhere.
Cycling flight mode, 4G comes back in picture alone.. signal shows 4g but in browser (and apps) the phone is offline.
Call was the same.

Weirdly, some things are coming through - bank notifications on card spending for example. I'm wondering if they function over edge though.
Beginning to suspect the antenna is not working properly

Antenna alone is unlikely the cause - 2G & 4G both operate on 1800Mhz so if one is working, the issue is elsewhere.
Your issue sounds data-specific hence my suspicion is some site-level network config.

Data specific as in, banking app is getting through but others are not?
Nothing else seems to be functional either, googlemaps etc.
Beyond a total factory reset, any suggestions for a resolution? at this point I'm just considering a new phone!

@edaberdeen , have you tried a sim swap with someone else, to rule out it is your phone and not the SIM card causing problems?

The functions you describe as still working are low-bandwidth ones, where the limited speed of 2G (14K or so) is just about enough, compared with 4G.
Comparing with other EE users is one step, the "report a problem" tool on the website is more geared towards single-site issues rather than wide area ones. Toggle mobile data permissions to see if the behaviour persists.

Thanks Schockwave,
The SIM is functional in another device.
