Requesting a new mast?

Hi,

Where I live (High Spen) we barely get 1 bar of signal, no chance of ever using mobile data - and I was wondering if there's any way we can request a mast to be installed? It's not particularly rural, and the villages either side of us have full 5g coverage, while we get absolutely nothing.

Network rollout has never really worked on this basis, although there have been cases where organised local support (often parish-council-backed) can help push proposals through - helping with site location & planning consent notably. Local demand can feed into one of the recognised expansion programmes such as the Shared Rural Network (SRN) initiative. EE also have some obligations under ESN to provide additional rural coverage.

The other issue is that all rollout requires certain dependencies in-place. A legal agreement with a willing landlord, local authority planning consent to be given (often a problem with vocal locals), and various technical aspects around install, power supply & access. If only it were as simple as an application form, the forum staff may be able to take some details and pass them onto network planners for consideration.

Check your local authority planning website for new applications, and be sure to contact them in full support! Edited to add I can see existing sites are at Highfield & Greenside which would explain the existing 4G/5G service there, I suspect your limited coverage may also come from near Currocks Hill..
