Having a poor to occasional no reception when in view of a non EE mast

I live in line of sight of a mast but it obviously is not one used by EE

I had to give up with waiting for a text this morning to confirm ID because the reception was down to 999 only.

This often happens when if I was about 300 meters nearer the village center I would get good reception.

When will all companies share all masts, which they must do for 999 calls ???????????????????????????????????

Site sharing is very complex, it's easy for media outlets to shout "Mast sharing". Even the 999-roaming setup that you mention, isn't as straightforward as it appears.

Quite often networks will share common site locations, especially in rural areas under the SRN project and where planning requirements dictate. The SRN project, for example, specifically allows for shared antennas.

It would be unusual to find broadcast sites that are not shared by multiple MNO.

But put simply, it doesn't always work when one operator has different priorities to others. EE does generally have the most reliable service nationally, but there will always be local variations.

@wood2ringman , if you have fixed broadband, you could use wifi calling, this will enable you to use your phone, get text messages and calls etc…, as if using a network connection.
