Hi
I have an S21 Ultra 5G but I never get anything like 5G speeds. I just did a speed test and after the page finally loaded my speed was 240Kbps..

So what do I need to get 5G speeds?
My contract is 5G..

Thanks

T

Well thats what im worried about. I though all the masts were owned by EE and other operators 'rented' signal from them, so to speak..

Doing a comparison on line they are mostly the same (2 having no 5G at all) I can live with 4G, but I'm supposed to get a good signal with EE the comparison site reckons..

Im going to try them one by one to see if they are any good.. Most have a 14 day cooling off period,.. we shall see

edited.. i originally put cant live with 4G.. It should have read CAN live with 4G..

If only it were so simple! There is a large amount of site-sharing in the UK, but the 4 network operators all install their own equipment on every radio site on which they have a presence.

There is also a lot of marketing hype around 5G, when 4G is often plenty sufficient.

I agree @bristolian It is all hype around 5G. I'm sure it will be everywhere at some point, but i will be quite happy if I can find a provider offering 4G..

The main 4 being? EE, O2, Vodaphone and??

The 4 UK operators are EE, O2, Vodafone & 3UK. All have their strengths & weaknesses, and plenty of local differences.

I've started the process and ordered a sim. Wondering if my phone is locked to EE, how can I tell?

Thanks

If you put an alternative network SIM into your phone, and it works... it's not locked. If it doesn't work... it's locked.

Well thanks for that obvious answer. 🙃

If it's locked, can it be unlocked easier?

Hi @Dragon_

You can check if the device is locked and request the unlock code here - Device unlock (ee.co.uk)

Hope this helps :slightly_smiling_face:

Leanne.
