5G still not available to PAYG customers !!!

Please advise a date when 5G will be available on PAYG.  Having been an EE customer for many years I recently purchased a new 5G enabled handset.  I am shocked to find out that EE have still not enabled 5G in their PAYG plans.  Come on EE, you shouldn't still be trying to force your loyal customers onto monthly contracts.  I will give it a another couple of weeks then a move to "1pMobile" will be my solution.

Update please...

@DJHarvey

It's available to LycaMobile customers, NVMO for EE, if you're happy to pay £5 a month for 20gb data on a 30 day rolling contract, no credit check or anything

If you're on PAYG for main mobile phone, I'd move over, with a plan that good, PAYG is essentially dead

Hi @DJHarvey

To access 5G, you would need a 5G pay monthly plan and 5G device.

It seems with Lyca you have to get a new SIM every 6 months to keep that £5, BUT they provide eSIMS, just give them fake info and you're good to go

you'd even be able to transfer your number

Yes it's £10 per 30 days after 6 months and auto renew is mandatory. I currently pay £1 per week PAYG, so not worth all the hassle changing.

It's £1 extra for 5G, you could just use it for Data, but it's up to you, EE are not likely to bring 5G to PAYG any time soon, just like eSIMS won't be on PAYG on EE, why? I do not know, they already have them for contracts and have for 5 years, bringing them to PAYG can't be difficult for them, they just won't do it

It takes the best part of 5 minutes to do, fill in the form on Lycamobile, download the SIM card, dump it. repeat in 6 months time, or whenever necessary

Yes would like an estimated date, been with ee on payg for a few years now.

Hello @Tommowar ,

Welcome to the community,

This is not customer service, we would not have a clue, you would have to ring customer services to find out, they may have a clue, also, there is nothing wrong with 4G, so why so hell bent on having 5G? When it will be available to everyone, that is customers on pay as you go, I am sure you will find out.

There are still many only on 4G, who are contract customers, as not everyone can get 5G, due to there phones or tablets, not being able to get 5G, as they are older and still working ok.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Out of interest, what functions do you want to use your phone for, that 4G is not sufficient and requires 5G?

Haha yes I don't.  Just pi55ed off because when I upgraded my handset 12 months ago, I paid extra for the 5g model assuming it would soon be available.  So money wasted !!!.
