Phone only showing LTE not 4G, can't turn on mobile hotspot

For the past couple weeks my iphone has only been showing LTE when I put on my data, and I've since been unable to turn on hotspot too, I assume they're related. I have more than enough data so that's not the problem, hotspot isn't even showing up in settings. I got this iphone 14 pro in December and 4G and hotspotting had been working fine until now.

I agree with Chris. Unless there's an Apple-specific quirk here, a device should always use an available WiFi connection over mobile data, for data usage.

There's no reason to be switching mobile data off, and if that's the sole issue - you have the solution.

@vsten  You’ve also got Network Provider services missing,  strange.

@vsten   You definitely did a network reset in Settings>General>Transfer Or Reset IPhone>Reset>Reset Network Settings?

I see you did a reset statistics in Mobile data this isn’t the same as above.   This just resets the data count of  your device.

Sorry I'm really not understanding what you're saying here. I manually switch data on and off only when I need to use it. The issue is that for the past couple weeks instead of saying 4G at the top when I turn it on like it normally does it's now saying LTE and I'm unable to turn on my hotspot when I need to use my ipad on the train for example.

Yes I've already done that and I've just done it again and there's no change. I reset the stats just to see if it would do anything

@vsten  It’s really strange as when 4G was launched it used to say LTE but many customers didn’t know what LTE was so it was changed to 4G as customers only knew about 4G not LTE.  This is going back to 2012 and the iPhone 5.

Do you have 5G enabled on the device?  If you don’t try enabling it and switching off WiFi on the device and then restart the device then switch it back to 4G only.

All I've got is this, if I click on LTE it selects 5G on instead.

Hi @vsten

Thanks for coming to the community 🙂

Is your software up to date?

Do you have a physical SIM card or an eSIM?

If you are using a physical SIM, can you try this in another device to see if you can hotspot?

Leanne.
