Hotspot Allowance

Hi all,

how much hotspot allowance are we given?
I have an unlimited data plan. I’ve just moved house and Virgin have screwed us over and not installing till 18th Jan, I googled and it said if you have unlimited data you have unlimited hotspot as long as you don’t tether too many devices. However, I received a text last night from EE saying I’ve used 80% of my gifted data.

is there anything me and my friend can get to be able to use hotspot at home till internet is installed?

thanks.

You haven't gifted 80%. You have used 80% of your giftable allowance by using your data yourself. Your giftable allowance is from the 1st 100GB of all your data in the month & every time you use data by hotspotting you are eating into that giftable allowance.

Hi @CFoxy98

Unlimited contracts are 600GB as per the terms and conditions. You can gift 100Gb hence the warning.

You can only normally teather 10/12 separate items at any one time.

Thanks

Gifting and tethering are 2 different things. You can only gift 100gb per month but you can hotspot all your data allowance if you want just aslong as you don’t hotspot too many things. Gifting actually means going into your my EE account and gifting data to another account on yre my EE account. You’ll be able to hotspot as much as you can normally use on yre own phone  which with unlimited is 600gb

That’s what I thought, I’m just simply using my phone’s signal to use it on fire sticks etc. Hardly gifting data doing that.

but I’ve gifted 80% apparently but can you track how much you’ve used as on my EE app it just gives me no info about allowances.

So I’ve used 80% of the first 100GB (which is giftable limit) of the 600GB I get with unlimited data package?
