mobile broadband contract (data sim) used in UK, not working in Europe

I tried to find out how to activate roaming before leaving the UK but the only instructions are for phones, there's nothing about data-only sims for use with a 4G mobile router for tablets/laptops.

I was using it fine in the UK but in France I got "NO SERVICE" then "Roaming! Please access Web UI to reconnect" and in Spain only "NO SERVICE".

In France I used the hotel wifi to get online but again failed to find anything about connecting mobile broadband roaming on the EE page. If "Web UI" refers to the router's, I've forgotten the password and don't know how to reset it, if such a possibility exists. Please advise how I can use my data in Europe.

The problem is precisely that I am unable to connect to my mobile router abroad!

Hi @gina_22,

You can still connect to the admin console via WiFi, even if your router isn't connected to the internet.

Once logged in, select the connection tab, then connection mode and make sure automatically connect even when roaming is ticked.

Hope this helps.

James

If you are not in the UK, where I presume you home BB router is, then http://192.168.1.1 from where you are cannot possibly be taking you to your home router. No, it is taking you to the management pages of your mobile router. It is from there you need to look for why it isn't connecting.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

Home routerss also exist in peoples' homes abroad.
"You can still connect to the admin console via WiFi, even if your router
isn't connected to the internet.": No, you cannot. I've tried.

It wasn't me who hit the Thumbs up button, so I hit it again to downgrade it but it doesn't do that. This response is helpful in giving the freephone number but didn't help the actual problem. Which turned out to be that I couldn't access the mobile wifi console because I'd forgotten the password. The solution has been to buy a new mobile wifi box.

If you have changed and or forgotten you Web Ui Password, then normally all you need to do is a Full Factory Reset of the Device, this will revert the Admin User and Passwords back to Default again.
